About Me ๐
Hi! I'm Nathalie, a computer science student at Rice University, and my mom's the real reason I'm interested in tech. After our family immigrated from Cuba, she taught herself to repair computers from scratch just to bring in extra income, and I grew up watching her fix things most people would've thrown away. That's basically why I joined a robotics team in high school: I wanted to build stuff too, not just watch. I ended up as the team's lead programmer, and that's what pulled me toward computer science for good.
These days that shows up as way too many personal projects (this website included), and a growing obsession with full-stack development and AI. Outside of class, I'm either thrifting for something no one else will find cool, or wandering campus with a camera taking pictures of the squirells! ๐ฟ๏ธ

Student Computing Consultant
Rice University Technology Solutions & ServicesResolve 50+ support issues a week for 8,000+ university students and staff members by diagnosing problems over phone, tickets, and follow-ups, then translating the fix into plain instructions.
- May 2026 โ July 2026
Algorithms Instructor
Tapia Center, Rice UniversityTurned Boolean logic and algorithm design into hands-on, interactive lessons for 720 campers enabaling them to create an algorithm that evaluates 1,000 mock college applicants and selects 200. I also coordinated daily transitions for 180 campers with 100% on-time starts.
This was one of the most rewarding experiences I've had, and I loved getting to teach a subject I love to students from all backgrounds and skill levels. I also learned a lot about how to communicate complex ideas in a way that makes sense to people who are new to the topic. ๐

Undergraduate Research Assistant
Rice UniversityTrained Random Forest models with scikit-learn to predict Curie temperatures of ferromagnetic materials, cleaning and analyzing 20,000 material samples with pandas along the way. Cut prediction RMSE 40%, from 50K to 30K, through better preprocessing and hyperparameter tuning.
